Man arrested for allegedly impersonating police officer on Maui

Chad Reardon

Maui police have arrested a man accused of impersonating a police officer.

Chad Reardon, 44, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday in Wailuku.

He was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer in the second degree and resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle in the second degree.

His bail was set at $20,000.

According to court documents released Monday, at about 2:50 a.m. Oct. 3, Reardon followed a female driver and, at one point, flashed a blue-and-white LED light in attempts to get her to stop.

The driver then called police, and Reardon fled the scene when an officer arrived.

An all-points bulletin was issued for Reardon. When he was arrested, he “denied flashing any lights at the vehicle, but did admit to following the vehicle, thinking it belonged to a former ‘tweeker neighbor that possibly had guns.'”
