EDITOR’S NOTE: Since this story’s initial airing, the warrant for James Turner has been recalled and he is no longer wanted.
Honolulu police and CrimeStoppers say James Turner stole a cellphone out of a woman’s hand in broad daylight.
“On November 18, 2013, at 4 in the afternoon, the victim was standing on the sidewalk on Alakea Street, talking on the cell phone when she was approached from behind by a male, who grabbed her cell phone and started running on foot,” said CrimeStoppers Sgt. Kim Buffett.
“She confronted him, a struggle ensued, she relinquished the phone but continued to follow him down the street. She was able to flag down an officer and the male was stopped and identified as Turner and placed under arrest for theft in 2nd degree.”
He was previously wanted for not following the terms of HOPE probation.
“And he does have one prior conviction,” Buffett added.
