A 4-year-old boy is dead tonight after a stabbing in McCully.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services says the boy was stabbed in the chest and suffered cardiac arrest. He was hospitalized in critical condition and later died.
A 29-year-old woman also suffered multiple wounds to the back. She was hospitalized and remains in critical condition.
The incident occurred at around 4:47 p.m. on Lime Street.
“The initial call came in as an argument, and a subsequent call came in reporting a stabbing. Officers arrived within minutes to find the suspect there, still within the residence,” said Lt. Phillip Lavarias, HPD homicide detail. “They had the male surrender his weapon, and upon entering the apartment, they discovered two individuals that had been stabbed.”
Police have arrested a 26-year-old man, who they say lived with the victims. Waiser Walter was booked on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
Police are still trying to determine the exact relationship, but believe Walter and woman are family members, and may be siblings. The boy was also related to them.
An investigation is ongoing.
