Waiser Walter

The suspect in a stabbing that resulted in the death of a 4-year-old boy has pleaded not guilty.

Waiser Walter, 26, was indicted on charges of second-degree murder, and first- and second-degree attempted murder.

Walter is accused of killing Jeremiah Roke and critically injuring his aunt, Jenni Roke, in their McCully apartment on Oct. 10.

According to court documents, when police arrived at the Lime Street address, Walter was seen “holding a large kitchen type of knife in his right hand.”

After he was cuffed and detained without a struggle, Jenni Roke was found “standing by the bedroom door just off of the living room bleeding and covered in blood.” She had been stabbed on the top of her left shoulder, documents claim.

“He wen stab me. He wen stab me,” she told the police. “He wen stab my kid, too.”

Jeremiah Roke was lying facedown on the living room couch with “various stab wounds on his back and a single stab wound to his stomach area,” documents said. He died at the hospital.

Walter’s trial is set for December. He remains in custody, unable to post $1 million bail.
