A reconstruction project to improve the primary baseball field at Kahala Community Park is set to begin next week.
The park is located at the corner of Pueo and Moa streets.
Starting Monday, Oct. 17, the immediate area around the baseball field will be closed for the duration of the project, which is expected to last six months.
Other parts of the park will remain open, however the public should be aware of the restricted construction area and avoid it during the project.
The reconstruction includes: removing and replacing the backstops and dugouts, new fencing and sidewalks, landscaping, and planting new grass.
The $649,000 contract for the project was awarded to Site Engineering Inc.
Kahala Community Park rests on 8.81 acres of land and was acquired by the city in April 1962.
