A major step in protecting your identity is to shred and properly dispose of sensitive documents and unused electronics.
Hawaii’s Better Business Bureau can help you do that on Secure Your ID Day.
On Saturday, Oct. 15, from 8-11 a.m., you can bring up to two banker boxes or bags of documents for shredding, as well as old cell phones, laptops, CPUs, and servers for secure hard drive destruction.
BBB staff and volunteers will also be on-site to provide expert advice and tips for identity theft protection.
The event is held in partnership with Access Information Management, Sims Recycling Solutions, AARP Hawaii, First Hawaiian Bank, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu and Maui.
Participants on Oahu and Maui are encouraged to bring clothing donations for the non-profit organization.
