The man who was pulled from waters off Ala Moana Beach Park on Saturday has died.
He was identified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office as Chung Song, 72, of Honolulu. There is no report on the cause or manner of death at this time.
Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to a call Saturday morning of an unresponsive person found underwater near Magic Island.
At 11:15 a.m., an Ocean Safety lifeguard discovered the man in his 50s in the water. Lifeguards then rescued the patient and brought him to shore where they performed CPR. EMS arrived and took over treatment with advanced live support and transported the patient in critical condition to Straub Medical Center.
