‘Aha Mele hosts a free Hawaiian music concert at Washington Place

It was built in 1847 and was once the home of Queen Liliuokalani.

For more than 160 years Washington Place has remained at the center of social and political life in Hawaii and for years served as the official residence for the Governor of Hawaii.

First Lady Dawn Ige and the Washington Place Foundation will open the doors of the historic home tomorrow. The Hawaii Tourism Authority’s ‘Aha Mele: Monthly Hawaiian Music Series continues at Washington Place.

This free concert event will feature live entertainment from Hālau Ka Liko Pua O Kalaniakea under the direction of Kumu Hula Kapua Dalire-Moe, Hall of Fame Serenaders, Palani Vaughan & The King’s Own. There will also be a special appearance by the students of Turnaround Arts Hawai’i’s Kamaile Academy Public Charter School.
