The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office has identified the skydiver who died from his injuries due to a hard landing at Dillingham Air Field Saturday morning.
He was Robert McCord, 62, from Kapaa, Kauai.
An autopsy performed Monday revealed that McCord died from blunt impact to the torso.
Emergency Medical Services personnel answered the 8:20 a.m. Saturday call and treated McCord for cardiac arrest and performed CPR. They then transported him to an area hospital in critical condition.
In a statement from the manager of Pacific Skydiving released Sunday, it said that McCord was “an experienced solo skydiver” and that he “deployed his parachute without incidence. His parachute was fully functioning and working correctly. Injuries were sustained during the landing process.”
