Local military training continues in Schofield area

Local military units are scheduled to conduct various training in the Schofield area this month that may be heard by surrounding communities.

For the community’s awareness, the training is as follows: (Please note, all training dates are subject to change based on environmental and other factors.)

Nov.1-6: The 25th Infantry Division will be conducting a large-scale training exercise called Lightning Forge. Training with blank ammunition and explosive simulators will occur during daytime and nighttime hours at various Army training areas across Oahu, to include: East Range, Dillingham Army Airfield and Kahuku Training Area. Updated announcements regarding exercise-related training noise and convoys will be published closer to the actual training events.

Nov. 7-10: Army Lightning Academy aviation operations on East Range. Training will occur during daytime and nighttime hours.

Nov. 14-18: Army Lightning Academy aviation operations on East Range. Training will occur during daytime and nighttime hours.

Nov. 28-30: Army artillery and demolitions training on Schofield Barracks.

Weather, such as overcast conditions, can increase noise and vibrations. Should individuals hear noise, there is no immediate danger.

The USAG-HI Public Affairs Office responds to all reported concernsduring regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
