Service restored to Hawaiian Telcom customers affected on Hawaii Island

As of about 2:45 p.m. Monday, Hawaiian Telcom technicians restored phone, internet and wireless service to the Hawaii Island customers who were impacted by the fiber break that was identified in the morning.

The cause of the fiber break was impact from a tree located in a remote area off Mamalahoa Highway.

At about 11 a.m., the utility experienced phone, internet and wireless service disruptions affecting customers in Kailua-Kona including Naalehu, Pahala and Hawaiian Ocean View Estates. Disruptions ranged from limited calling ability to loss of service.
