Voter turnout average, not as high as years past

How many registered voters in Hawaii actually cast their ballot in the general election?

The estimated turnout after the third printout was 382,328, or 50.98%.

In comparison, in 2014, turnout was 52.30%, and in 2012, a presidential year that pitted President Barack Obama against challenger Mitt Romney, it was 61.90%.

Sixty-six percent turned out in 2008, when Obama made his first presidential bid against John McCain.

Tuesday’s turnout was still much higher than our August primary election at 34.77%.
