Honolulu firefighters responded to a two-alarm building fire at the Hale Nani Health Center on Pensacola Street Friday morning.
The first HFD unit arrived on 6:58 a.m. to find smoke emanating from an exhaust vent of the four-story healthcare facility. It was reported that heavy grey smoke was emanating from a second-floor utility closet.
Patients were instructed to shelter in place and personnel determined the source of the smoke to be an extinguished electrical fire contained to an exhaust fan motor.
The fire was brought under control and all second-alarm fire companies were released from the incident. Remaining personnel continued with overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and the removal of smoke from the building.
No injuries were reported and the fire damage estimate is not available at this time.
Police closed off a portion of Pensacola Street near Prospect Street during the operation.
