A heads up if you’re planning to be at or near the Neal S. Blaisdell Center this holiday weekend.
Multiple events are expected to attract large audiences and create an increased demand for parking.
On Wednesday, Mariah Carey performs the first Honolulu show in her Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour. On Friday, she’ll take the stage again as the 30th Annual Islandwide Crafts and Food Expo opens in the Exhibition Hall. Both events repeat on Saturday, and then the expo concludes Sunday.
Visitors are advised to plan ahead for increased traffic in surrounding areas and allow extra time to find parking.
“If the parking lot does become full, then we will place signs out front and people will know that they will need to find alternative parking,” said Andrew Pereira, City and County of Honolulu spokesman. “We do have that available nearby. We have some metered parking and we do have the overflow parking at McKinley High School.”
Additional parking will be available at President William McKinley High School on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday via the campus’ Pensacola Street entrance. On Friday, there will only be event parking at the Blaisdell and all daily and monthly parking will not be allowed.
Parking costs between $6-8 at the Blaisdell and no more than $6 at McKinley High School.
