Honolulu police have opened all westbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway after a fiery crash.
It occurred at around 4:30 p.m. near the Kualakai Parkway off-ramp.
According to Emergency Medical Services, a semi-trailer truck reportedly blew a tire, which caused it to hit the median. The 69-year-old male driver was hospitalized in serious condition.
The semi’s tire reportedly struck an SUV.
The SUV’s 40-year-old male driver and 36-year-old female passenger were both hospitalized in serious condition. Officials say the woman suffered apparent head, neck, shoulder, back, and abdomen pain, while the man was treated for apparent neck, back, chest, and left-knee pain, and abrasions to his left arm.
All three were wearing their seat belts and officials say all three were able to get out of their vehicles.
All westbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway were initially shut down.
The left two lanes remained closed until around 6:30 p.m.
