Laulima: Family struggles to make ends meet after dad suffers stroke

You never know what life will hand you, and it can be especially tough when the unexpected hits around the holidays.

Here’s one of many families you can help this holiday season through our Laulima Giving Program.

Mom and Dad are only 40 years old, so they were stunned when Dad suffered a stroke in September.

It put him in a state of paresis, or partial paralysis, in both legs. Suddenly, Dad can’t work and faces extensive rehabilitation..

Mom works to support the family, cares for Dad, and their two sons.

This family could use a little help to ease the stress.

Their youngest son is six with quite an imagination. He’d love action figures and could use school clothes size 8.

Their other son is 14 and would very much appreciate a skateboard. He too could use school clothes, size large shirts.

Mom could use a gas card and any basic household goods, like paper towels, laundry detergent, and a grocery store gift card for a nice holiday meal.

Dad normally hikes and swims with the family but for now, movie passes would provide a nice outing for the family.
