A man who was hospitalized for two weeks after being injured in a crash in Kahului has died.
He was Thomas James Partyka, 64, of Kula.
On Saturday, Nov. 5, at approximately 4:54 p.m., a crash occurred on the airport access road at the intersection of Hana Highway in Kahului. A white 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe multi-purpose vehicle, traveling east on the airport access road, turned right onto the highway and collided into Partyka, who was walking in a marked crosswalk.
Partyka was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in stable condition. The operator of the Hyundai was not injured in the collision.
On Monday, Nov. 21, Partyka succumbed to his injuries at the Maui Memorial Medical Center ICU.
This is Maui County’s 21st traffic fatality for 2016, as compared to 21 the same time last year.
