Maui firefighters have gained the upper hand on a brush fire in Ukumehame.
Fire crews received the call for the blaze, which is located just north of Ehehene Street on the mauka side of the Honoapiilani Highway, around 7:56 a.m. Wednesday.
As of 4:40 p.m., fire crews said they had the fire 80 percent contained. No homes were threatened, no injuries were reported, and no road closures were necessary.
Earlier Wednesday winds of up to 20 to 30 miles per hour were reportedly fanning the fire.
The cause remains under investigation.
