Due to an electrical power outage at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, the Department of Water Supply’s pumps which supply water to the Honokohau Valley, Napili and Honokowai areas on Maui are not operating.

Maui Electric Company is working on restoring power and estimates that power will be restored at about 5 p.m. Friday.

After electricity has been restored, the Department will restart its pumping operation to refill water tanks to desired levels. This may take between 18 to 24 hours to refill the tanks.

As a result, the Department is asking all water consumers in Honokohau Valley, Napili and Honokowai to immediately take measures to conserve water until 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, and to avoid any unnecessary water use.

Call the 24-hour hotline at 270-7633 if a water-related problem occurs or if there are any questions.
