Warning siren testing will take place at the following locations and times Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.:
- Kaena Point in Waianae
- Thompson Corner in Haleiwa
- H-3 Lookout in Kailua
These new sirens are part of the Statewide Siren Modernization Project.
Residents nearby may hear the siren sound six to eight times for 30-second to one-minute intervals during the identified time frame. Testing will include short blasts known as “burps.”
During the tests, emergency management officials and technicians will check that installation work on this siren has been completed properly.
The Hawaii Emergency Management Association encourages the public to make use of other supplemental methods of warning including, but not limited to, the City & County of Honolulu’s mass text notification system, Nixle, and NOAA Weather Radio.
