Dr. Gelb says parents need to role-model healthy eating habits and limit bringing tempting foods into the house. Teaching kids that saying “No” to a second slice of cake doesn’t mean “no fun allowed.”
- Prepare healthy, nourishing foods, so kids feel full
- Prepare lighter meals on days when kids will have treats (e.g., at a holiday party)
- Avoid snacking
