Three crashes around Oahu result in serious injuries

EMS personnel were busy early Sunday morning, responding to three crashes around Oahu.

During the 4 a.m. hour, there were two crashes.

At 4:02 a.m., paramedics responded to a crash at the 2800 portion of Waialae Avenue.

A vehicle crashed into a light pole and a 23-year-old man was taken to a trauma center in serious condition.

At 4:52 a.m., a 29-year-old man was treated and taken to a trauma center, also in serious condition, after attempting to flee the scene of a two-vehicle crash on the H-1 Freeway.

The crash occurred on the H-1 eastbound prior to the Waikele off-ramp. The 29-year-old apparently tried to flee the scene by jumping off of the freeway, falling approximately 100 feet into a ravine.

The other driver involved, a 30-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and refused treatment.

And at 6:27 a.m., EMS personnel responded to a crash in the Waipio Uka Blvd./Kamehameha Highway area.

A 27-year-old man involved in a single-car crash with a utility pole was treated and transported to a trauma center in serious condition.
