The bicyclist who died at the scene of a crash in Waianae Monday night has been identified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office.
He was Stanley Simon, 59, of Waianae.
The incident was reported at 10:57 p.m. Monday.
The crash involved Simon and a van driven by a 53-year-old man.
Simon was on Niihau Street when he ran a stop sign at the intersection at Waianae Valley Road and collided with the van that was traveling south.
Speed, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
The cause and manner of death is pending the completion of an autopsy.
This is the first traffic fatality of the year, compared with two the same time last year.
