The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office has identified the rider who died at the scene of a motorcycle crash on Kalanianaole Highway Sunday night.
He was Antonio Saunders, 34, of Honolulu. The cause of death was blunt force injuries to the neck. Saunders was wearing a helmet.
The crash was reported at 6:26 p.m. Sunday and the highway was closed in both directions between Hanauma Bay and Sandy Beach Park.
EMS said that Saunders was traveling town bound when he lost control of his bike and collided with the guard rail along the bend.
Honolulu police said that they believe speed was a factor in the crash.
This is the ninth fatality on Oahu this year compared to seven at this time last year.
