A female passenger in her 20s was ejected from an SUV after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Emergency Medical Services report that at about 8:10 p.m. a woman was ejected from a moving vehicle. She was treated for multiple injuries and taken to the hospital in critical condition. She has since been upgraded to serious condition.
Honolulu police say a Jeep Cherokee lost control while traveling north on Likelike Highway prior to the Wilson Tunnel. The SUV hit a guardrail and the woman was ejected.
The woman came to rest on right shoulder of roadway.
Police then said the vehicle kept travelling, and the unidentified driver abandoned the SUV less than a mile from the scene.
HPD believes that alcohol is a possible factor in the crash. It is unknown if speed or drugs were factors.
Police reopened the area to traffic at about 11:28 p.m. after closing a portion of the highway.
