Man charged in connection with shooting, standoff in Kakaako

A man has been charged in connection with an hours-long standoff in Kakaako Tuesday night.

Daniel Lee was charged Thursday with possession of prohibited weapons and promoting harmful drugs in the fourth degree.

His bail was set at $50,000.

The incident began at around 9 p.m. in an apartment building on Kawaiahao Street.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots fired from within one of the units late Tuesday. When officers arrived, police say two men refused to leave.

Residents who lived on the same floor, as well as the floors above and below, were evacuated during the standoff.

Police say officers spoke with the men, and they eventually surrendered. The evacuation was lifted shortly after they were escorted off the property.

A second man was also arrested, but was released pending investigation.

No one was hurt.
