Marco Polo residents, strangers come together to help fire victims through art

It’s been exactly one week since the devastating and deadly fire at the Marco Polo.

There is no word yet from fire investigators on a cause.

There was a fundraiser in Waikiki for the victims on Friday.

Wine and Canvas is held every Friday night at the Sheraton Waikiki but on Friday.part of the event fee will go to the Red Cross.

“At first it took me a day to really register what really happened. It was shock just for sure. From what I know at this point, yes I lost everything. And it’s, I lost things but I’m alive so that’s kind of what matters, no?” said Navin Tagore-Erwin, Marco Polo resident.

“So we’re going to do $10 per seat that was purchased tonight donated to the Red Cross and any monetary donation given we have a jar will be included as well,” said Katrina Richardson of Wine and Canvas.

“This whole thing has been really eye opening to see the community support we’re getting. and it’s indicative of this state and community there’s a lot of love and compassion here,” said Tagore-Erwin

The turnout Friday was about double the amount that usually shows up for this weekly event at the Sheraton.
