Flooding leaves drivers stranded

Among the worst we saw on Tuesday as far as flooding was in the Mapunapuna area.

We saw car after car get stuck in the high water.

The low lying area is notorious as being a bad spot to be in when it floods.

But people in the area tell us they’ve never seen it this bad, even when we had the king tides.

“Today was probably the worst I’ve ever seen it. There’s a Subaru that was stuck there earlier. And as you look at the truck over there, it was, see where the mud line is? HPD is here stopping traffic. We had help from roadway stopping traffic, turning it around, if you were to wade and it will probably be about waist high and on the other side. The Safety Systems there were two cars stuck over there. A mini Cooper and a truck,” said Kimo Venne who works in the area.

While police were on scene, cars were driving through the area.

The smartest thing for your own safety and your car is to avoid any sort of ponding water.
