Motorcyclist killed in Kunia crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Kunia Thursday evening.

It happened at around 6:30 p.m. on Kunia Road, about a mile north of Anonui Street.

Police say a pickup truck was making a left turn from Kunia Road onto a private dirt road when it was hit by a motorcycle going in the opposite direction.

Police say the 28-year-old motorcyclist was thrown onto the road.

He was taken to Queen’s Medical Center West Oahu in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.

Police say he was wearing a helmet at the time.

The truck driver and his front-seat passenger were not hurt.

Police are still investigating whether speed, drugs, or alcohol were factors in the crash.

This is the 45th traffic-related fatality compared to 54 at this same time last year.
