A man was killed in an early-morning crash on Ala Moana Boulevard.
It happened at around 1 a.m. near the Piikoi Street intersection.
According to police, a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck hit a 35-year-old man as he crossed the street.
“We believe he was crossing Ala Moana Boulevard in the makai direction and heading toward Ala Moana beach park. He was in a marked crosswalk when he was struck,” said Lt. Ben Moszkowicz, HPD’s Traffic Division.
The man was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition and later died.
Police say the truck may have been speeding at the time. They do not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Police are asking for witnesses to come forward.
“At this time, we’re not sure what the traffic signals were, who had the green light, who had the right to cross. In reality, we only have the driver and the pedestrian who were here,” Moszkowicz said.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
