Gina Mangieri attributes her career in journalism to her mother, who was an investigative newspaper reporter in New York. “Ink is in the blood,” she said.
After receiving both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from Northwestern University, Mangieri worked in New York, London, Chicago and Washington, D.C. as a reporter and editor in print and broadcast journalism.
She moved to Hawaii in 1999 and served as the editor of Pacific Business News while completing her MBA at University of Hawaii at Manoa. She joined KHON2 in 2004.
Now, as KHON2’s “Always Investigating” reporter, Mangieri focuses on stories “that can help right a wrong.”
When she’s not working, Mangieri keeps busy with her two active boys, Cole and Rowen, her husband, Doug, and a Labrador puppy, Skipper.
