Trini Kaopuiki developed a passion for journalism while attending University of Hawaii at Manoa.
“I love keeping the people of Hawaii informed, telling people’s stories and having a positive impact in the local community,” she said.
The Maui native and St. Anthony High School graduate joined KHON2 in 2000 after serving as a spokesperson for Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, working with a variety of charities and traveling the globe as Miss Hawaii USA.
In February 2015, Kaopuiki made the transition from weekend weather anchor to co-host of Living808, KHON2’s daily lifestyle show.
She also spearheads KHON2’s Laulima (formerly known as Lokahi) Giving Program. “I’m honored to be able to help these families by sharing their stories with the public and finding them help during the holidays.”
When she isn’t at the station, Kaopuiki enjoys working with a variety of non-profit organizations.
Her hobbies include reading, playing volleyball and spending time with her husband and two young children.
