Living808 Co-Host & Sam Choy’s in the Kitchen Co-Host
John Veneri began his journey at KHON2 all the way back in 1995. Since then, he’s held many different positions at the TV station, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
His new role as the Co-Host of Living808 is the perfect fit. He loves adventure, food, fun, community, Hawaiian culture and travel. His life experiences as a host, father, and Kamehameha Schools and University of Hawaii alumni adds another aspect to the Living808 ohana.
John’s TV career began as a sports anchor and reporter from 1995 to 2010.
His love of sports began at a very young age, from Pop Warner to Little League baseball. The former slotback for the University of Hawaii football and member of the 1992 Holiday Bowl team continues his love of the game as the ESPN color analyst for UH football radio broadcasts.
John joined the KHON2 Cover2 team with his “Johnny on the Go” segment, highlighting coaches, players, and support staff with stories on and off the field. “Cover2: Hawaii’s High School Football Weekly” began in 2013 and runs throughout the football season.
In 2016, KHON2 launched a groundbreaking cooking show with world renowned chef Sam Choy. The popular “Sam Choy’s in the Kitchen” features Chef Sam and John visiting locals and celebrities, crafting new meals out of family favorites in the fridge.
For the last seven years, John has enjoyed honing his production skills as a member of the KHON2 marketing and production team, writing, directing, shooting, and editing station promotions and commercials.
Johns’ love of entertaining and his irrepressible personality brings him back on air full-time as the co-host of Living808 alongside Trini Kaopuiki every weekday morning. John is excited about this new endeavor and another chapter in his KHON2 career.
John spends his off-time with his three children and his extended ohana across Hawaii.
